Save Our Youths From Drug Abuse.
Recently, it was everywhere on social media, young adults—teenagers in secondary schools and universities—abusing drugs like Tramadol, Codeine and Marijuana. They abuse these substances by adding excess of them to their beverages and a novice will conclude that they are simply taking drinks. These teenagers believe it is okay to get high on these drugs called opiate narcotic analgesics, which work by changing the way the brain respond to pain. The last video I saw was of a girl who was high on these drugs after adding it to a drink. She was unconscious of herself in public; she slept by the road side, half-dressed, in her school uniform throwing caution into the air as regarding her private areas.
Another touching story is that of a boy who got drunk and high on some of these substances with his friends. Afterwards, a fight broke out in the neighborhood. Others managed to escape, but he was arrested by the police. But the sad truth was; he slept for two days in the police custody without eating or realizing where he was—he was unconscious.
It is becoming obvious that the use of drugs is gradually consuming our youths and the after effect isn’t a good sight. A society where the youths are heavily on drugs will be economically sick. This is part of the reason why the Stella Ihwechi Foundation was set up. Our goal is to re-orientate these young adults especially those on the streets through our transformational programs.
The Stella Ihwechi Foundation (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that helps young people between the ages of 18-35 who lives on the streets, slums, and ghettos to develop positive instinct towards life, and identify areas of interest that can be legitimately pursued for livelihoods support. We are positioned to give helpless youths a focused lifestyle that will enable them live a fulfilled life and contribute positively to societal development.
