Making the world a better place
The Stella Ihwechi Foundation (SIF) is a non- Governmental Organisation founded by Stella Akani- Olusami a Mediator/Resolution Consultant. Stella attended the United States Institute of peace, Institute of Business Management, Stellenbosch in Cape Town South Africa, The University of Massachusetts in Boston USA and also Maastricht School of Management in Holland.
The foundation was established in the year 2005 but was fully incorporated in 2017 with the vision and mission of making this world a better place for the less privileged irrespective of whom they are or where they come from. Stella Ihwechi Foundation is focused on 3 core aspect of live (EDUCATION, HEALTH and EMPOWERMENT). SIF also have taken it upon them to reach out to quite a number of persons by organising programs for sensitization with the aim of addressing the basic issues that affect humans (Sex Education, Rape, Violence and distortion, battering, drug abuse, poverty, crimes etc.) The foundation is in partnership with schools to organise and enlighten the students on what to do when they are faced with difficulties as regards to the above mentioned.
HEALTH
The foundation has achieved and reached out to so many people through her different health sensitization programs such as free Hepatitis B, blood sugar, and Blood Pressure health check services to various communities. During this health check program, the foundation in collaboration with some of SIF medical practitioners carries out tests on participants to know more about their health status, before counselling and prescriptions. In 2017, SIF organised a program with the theme (Healthy Living) and 74 boys gained immensely from it. We realized from their testimonials that it was worth the hassle.
In 2018, SIF organised hepatises B free health check in Ikota village, Lagos State and over 121 persons benefited from it. During this program the Executive Director of the foundation gave a lecture on business management. Nonetheless, the foundation during her street transformation and drug awareness campaign in 2019 also did a free health checks for the community in Ajah, Lagos State and not less than 94 persons benefited from it with different health practitioners present to counsel and provide some of the medications that were needed.
The foundation in September, 2020 also held a free health check in Rivers State for the low income teachers and over 100 teachers benefited from the health check and the SIF doctors who are always present and ready to give them tips and counselling as to the do’s and don’ts to a healthy living.
EMPOWERMENT
Stella Ihwechi Foundation empowers the less privileged with palliative cares, giveaway etc. The foundation through her empowerment program helped some youths by enrolling them for skill acquisition. (Upholstery, makeup training, fashion designing, hair making etc.) Just to be able to make a living for themselves and for their loved ones.
